In the world today, especially in the Episcopal Church, the preaching and
teaching of God's word is often lackluster. Good Shepherd will be known as a church where the preaching comes from God's Word, and is applied to the lives of the hearers. The congregation will be transformed by walking through whole books of the Bible and teaching series. Because Good Shepherd is known for Biblical Preaching, there will be a strong emphasis on study, resources, and continuing education for the preachers. The whole congregation will be support the preacher in the task of listening for the Word of the Lord for the community.

We will passionately believe the following excerpt from Romans 10:
"For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." But how are they to call on him who they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of who they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!" ... So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."
As well as the Lord's proclamation in Isaiah 55:10-11:
"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there or water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."
